What is happening?

Since 1971, The Mac has been committed to supporting the Macarthur and Wollondilly communities. You read that right, this year marks 50 years since our humble beginnings. Throughout that time, we have seen a number of changes – from logos and colours through to the competitive products we offer. One thing has never changed though - our level of service and commitment to our members.

2021 is no exception with some big changes occurring.

Firstly, we are proud to announce that The Mac is now able to offer loans to small businesses – this is something that many of our members have asked for over the years, and finally we have been able to make it a reality. Please contact our friendly team for more information.

Secondly, the time has come to revamp our Camden Branch and Head Office. Over the coming months there will be significant works occurring at our Camden site that will provide a modern branch for our members, a fit for purpose head office as well as a number of commercial spaces that will be available to lease. The Camden site has not been updated since it was built back in 1991. Up until now it has stood the test of time – a tribute to the work done by our predecessors. We are excited to share updates as we go with each and every one of you – keep an eye on our social media pages and website for updates. We anticipate that there will be a seamless transition between the old and new branch with no service interruption.

Lastly, and sadly we will be closing the doors of our Narellan branch on Friday 16 July. The difficult decision to not renew our lease at Narellan Town Centre was not taken lightly and is based on a number of factors including the increase in members using card and online services and the continual decline in branch transactions. For example, we know that less than 1% of our total membership use our Narellan branch more than once a month.

Importantly, despite the closure of the branch we will not be saying goodbye to any of our amazing staff – they will be relocated to either Camden, Picton or Tahmoor so you will still be able to see their familiar faces. We understand that this may cause initial inconvenience for some members and we sincerely apologise for this.

As always, we are happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have in relation to any of the above items.
